ED may question Moideen again in Karuvannur case

Kochi: Enforcement directorate (ED), probing Karuvannur bank scam, is likely to question former minister A C Moideen again. ED had questioned him for nearly 10 hours on Monday. Sources said he will be questioned after the agency collects statements from more witnesses in the case. Meanwhile, ED again questioned Thrissur corporation councillor Anoop Davis Kada, Wadakkanchery municipality health standing committee chairman Aravindakshan PR and one Jijor on Tuesday. Their questioning continued late into the night.ED had earlier claimed in a statement that investigations had revealed that many benami loans were disbursed on the instructions of Moideen. The MLA is learnt to have countered the allegation stating that he made recommendations only for people who were in need, considering their financial difficulties.Moideen had submitted documents including IT returns. Satheesh Kumar P (56) of Kolazhy and Kiran PP (33) of Perinjanam were arrested in the case. ED is investigating possible links between Kumar and Moideen. ED is trying to find evidence over the alleged financial deals between them.Jijor had earlier given a statement to ED that the first accused (Kumar) was allegedly a benami of high-profile politicians (an MLA, an ex-MP and high-ranked police officers).Jijor also claimed in his statement that Kumar was managing the funds of these high-profile persons.
