CPM failed politically, will not get third term: G Sudhakaran
KOTTAYAM: Former CPM leader G Sudhakaran said Pinarayi Vijayan and the LDF would not get a third term in office as the leadership of the Left party has "failed politically", while that of the Congress and UDF can be seen as winning.
He expressed this stance in a Facebook post after accepting the support of the UDF for contesting independently in Ambalappuzha.
Earlier, Sudhakaran said while announcing his candidature in Ambalappuzha after leaving the party that he would be happy if Vijayan returns to power for a third time. This has not gone well with the Congress leaders. Through the FB post of Thursday, Sudhakaran has changed his stance. He also expressed his gratitude to the workers of the Congress party who are working sincerely and strongly for him in the constituency.
In the post, he says that the CPM leadership has failed politically. In this context, it is seen that the opposition leadership in general and the Congress leadership in particular are succeeding politically.
"Having worked for over six decades with the communist movement as both a member and part of the leadership, I am now in a situation where I cannot continue political work fearlessly and honestly. I decided to contest as an independent candidate in Ambalappuzha constituency as part of my stance against corrupt individuals and those who manipulate criminal-mafia politics," Sudhakaran said in the post.
He said the LDF leadership opposing him was continuously spreading false propaganda. "When I connect with the people, the response I receive is that these false campaigns have not affected them. Among them, hundreds of UDF workers and numerous party members from the Left, especially the CPM, along with tens of thousands of voters, have declared their support for my victory," he said.
He termed his candidature as a historic struggle to shine the light of true politics against the threats, false campaigns and character assassinations. At this crucial historical juncture, when the LDF leadership came forward publicly with insults, slander and false propaganda, the wise stance of the Congress-led UDF, which offered words of comfort and support, will be etched as a silver line in history, he said.
