KANPUR: A delegation of 50 college
principals of Kanpur
will soon meet Prime Minister
Narendra Modi and hand over one lakh letters written by students and their parents and request him for speedy trial of rape cases.
Gaurav Bajpai, convener of final justice @365 days, stated that a meeting of principals, doctors, advocates and traders was held here on Tuesday in which it was decided to hold rallies at 50 places in the city on December 16, the day on which the girl
Nirbhaya
was gangraped in a bus in New Delhi four years ago.
The participants said that rape victims do not get justice because such cases remain undecided for more than ten years due to shortage of judicial officers.
They demanded that rape and other sexual offences cases should be tried in special fast track courts and each case should be decided at all levels within 365 days, and rapists should be awarded capital punishment.
