Kanpur: A man killed his father by hitting him with a brick when the latter came to intervene while his son was beating his wife in Mahoba’s Sijari village under Srinagar police station on Sunday evening.
Seeing the father’s death, there was an uproar in the house and the son fled the scene. On receiving information about the murder, police reached the village, took the body into custody and gathered information from the family members.
Harihar Ahirwar (58) used to do farming. In his family are his wife Kishori and three sons, Mahesh, Arvind and Dashrath. Mahesh is married, while Arvind and Dashrath are unmarried. Mahesh’s wife Ram Kumari, two sons Deependra, Dheerendra and a daughter also live in the house. Mahesh works as a labourer at a kiln in Delhi and had come to the village just a few days ago. On Sunday evening, Mahesh came home and started quarrelling with his father Harihar.
After an altercation, Mahesh started abusing and beating his wife Ram Kumari. Seeing the daughter-in-law being beaten, Harihar tried to intervene to stop the quarrel, upon which Mahesh became furious and picked up a brick lying in the house and hit it on his father’s head.
This split his head open and he died on the spot.
Seeing this, the family members started wailing, then Mahesh fled the scene. The police were informed about the incident. A forensic team came to the spot, collected evidence and took the body into custody.
The deceased’s wife Kishori said that her son Mahesh had been under the influence of alcohol for the past few days and used to quarrel with his father daily. On Sunday, during the assault on the daughter-in-law, he killed her husband, who came to intervene, by hitting him with a brick.
Meanwhile, Srinagar police station in-charge Jay Chandra Singh said that the deceased’s other son Arvind has filed a written complaint of murder against Mahesh. An FIR has been registered. A search for Mahesh is underway.
