Kanpur: A four-month-old girl was killed allegedly by her father’s aunt and her brother during a family dispute in Gursahaiganj Kotwali area in Kannauj on Saturday evening.
Neeraj Batham, a resident of Gauhana Kheda village, said that his maternal aunt Rekha Devi and maternal uncle, Vicky, reached his house and started abusing him. When he objected, they started assaulting him.
Neeraj said that during the assault, when his wife, Jyoti, intervened, she was also assaulted. Rekha snatched the four-month-old daughter from Jyoti’s arms and hit her against the ground, causing grievous head injuries to her.
The child was rushed to hospital where the doctor pronounced her dead.
Gursahaiganj police station in-charge Ajay Kumar Awasthi reached the spot and launched an investigation.
“After my mother’s death, my father, Lalta Prasad Batham, married my maternal aunt Rekha Devi. She harboured a grudge against me and frequently assaulted me and my wife,” Neeraj said.
Gursahaiganj police station in-charge said that both the accused were on the run and would be arrested soon.
