Closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras have been installed in Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi Memorial (GSVM) Medical college in order to check students' nuisance. According to Dr. Prashant Tripathi, assistant campus security incharge, the campus already had two cameras at strategic locations, but 10 new CCTV cameras have been installed in five boys' hostels.
"The campus has two night vision cameras. One camera catches the view of the road towards the principal's Office while the other one is in the direction of residential area. Now, the two cameras, one each in boys' hostel, has been installed at the entrance and student gallery in the hostels," he said.
He said that the college authorities took this step to increase surveillance in the campus in view of several complaints received about students' nuisance. "In order to maintain decorum and discipline in the GSVM campus, we took this decision. We can now easily keep an eye on students' activities. The college has installed high quality cameras that cover a larger area", said Tripathi.
