3 criminals held, firearms seized
Kanpur: A police operation in the Panki Industrial Area resulted in a violent encounter with criminals on Saturday night during which two criminals sustained leg injuries. Police arrested three suspects, while one escaped. The police seized transformer oil, various components, a gas cutter, weapons, and additional items from the criminals' vehicle.ADCP West Vijayendra Kumar said that Panki police station officer Manvendra Singh received an intelligence report about potential criminal activity that night. The station officer and his team conducted a search operation in the vicinity. The team spotted suspicious persons travelling in a van and on a motorcycle in Site No: 3 of the Panki Industrial Area. When ordered to halt, the van occupants attempted to flee while opening fire. In the ensuing exchange, Amit Bhardwaj alias Rajesh Sharma alias Chhote from the Nahariya area of Unnao's Kotwali region and Shivam Chaurasia alias Bunty from the Rasoolabad area of Kanpur Dehat suffered gunshot wounds on their legs. The police arrested Ankit Agrahari from Takia Mandhana in Bithoor after pursuit, but Pranshu from Mandhana in Bithoor escaped. The ADCP revealed that the seized items included 95 litres of stolen transformer oil, clamps, a motorcycle, 12 bundles of copper wire, three mobile phones, three firearms, 1,350 rupees, and other materials. The detained criminals admitted to stealing transformer oil and parts in the Bilhaur and Panki regions.
