JSR demands sustainable development

Jamshedpur: The residents of Jamshedpur are looking for an elected representative with a vision in the upcoming general election who can address the city’s pressing issues and ensure sustainable development. Students and young professionals emphasize the need for better higher education opportunities and employment prospects to prevent brain drain.

“Jamshedpur needs better colleges and higher education opportunities. Yes, we have a good B school, a new medical college but we need more opportunities,” said Rahul Kar, a student.

Environmental activists highlighted the importance of sustainable solutions in water and waste management. Gaurav Anand, founder of Swachchata Pukare Foundation, believes that the elected representative should formulate a comprehensive plan to tackle such issues. “A member of the parliament should be able to formulate a holistic plan to ensure sustainable solutions. If nothing is done now at the policy level, we are doomed. People will move to greener pastures,” he said.

The business community highlights the need for improved healthcare facilities and law and order. Rajiv Talwar, a businessman, points out that Jamshedpur still lacks a multi-speciality hospital, forcing patients to seek treatment in metropolitan cities.

Senior citizens, on the other hand, prioritize a candidate’s character over party affiliations. Jawaharlal Sharma, a senior citizen, advises voters to choose a candidate who can effectively represent the constituency's interests at the national level without succumbing to corporate pressure.

As the polling day approaches, the East Singhbhum district administration is actively conducting awareness campaigns to encourage voter participation on May 25.
