JAMSHEDPUR: A Jamshedpur Football Club (JFC) player, Seiminlen Doungel, from Manipur, was showcaused by his club for posting objectionable comments on his Instagram account against Union home minister Amit Shah on Saturday.

He later deleted the post after strong objections from senior BJP leader and former Jamshepur unit president, Dinesh Kumar.

Doungel, a right midfielder of JFC, was critical of Shah for his August 10 speech in the Lok Sabha on the Manipur violence. He later posted another message apologising for his outburst. “As someone from Manipur, who has experienced the violence first-hand and has been tagged time and again as an illegal immigrant, it has really been frustrating and painful. I want to apologise for my previous message against the home minister of India, Shri Amit Shah, and, anyone who has been hurt,” he wrote.
