Jamshedpur flower show to focus on plastic ban

JAMSHEDPUR: The Horticulture Society of Jamshedpur will organise the four-day annual flower show at Gopal Maidan from December 30, after a gap of two years due to Covid-19 curbs.

This was stated by Aravind Sinha, the secretary of the society, on Sunday.

Appealing to the visitors to cooperate with the organisers in following the ban on plastic, Ruchi Narendran, the head of the society, said, “Steps are being taken to keep the flower show a ‘no plastic zone’. Hence, the participants too are requested to resist from using any plastic material.”

The annual flower show is a much awaited event in the city calendar. The footfall of the visitors in the last show was around 20,000 per day, which is expected to rise this year as it is being hosted during the Christmas holidays, he added.

Cultural events will be organised for the visitors in the evening hours on the last two days of the event, Sinha said , adding that food stalls will also be set up during the event.
