Announcing the decision, state health minister Banna Gupta on Thursday said that a panel would be constituted to review the holding tax and sairat bazar tax structure. The panel will give its report by November 15 and accordingly the government shall make amendments and announce fresh structure. The panel will be headed by director of state urban development agency, Amit Kumar.

“The Sairat bazar tax in the Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) will be collected as per the old rate of levy charged by the Tata Steel. The old rate will be charged till the amended tax structure comes into effect,” the minister added.

Notably, there are 7,700 plus Sairat bazar shops in the Steel City.

Earlier in the day, the minister chaired the meeting of the urban development department officials at Project Bhawan.
