BJP workers barge into Nirmal Mahato shaheed sthal, clash with policemen

Jamshedpur: A scuffle broke out between BJP members and police at the Nirmal Mahato shaheed sthal at Uliyan in Kadma on Monday when the former pulled down a barricade and shoved police guards to barge into the premises to pay homage to martyr Nirmal Mahato.After paying floral tributes to the statue, the BJP members exited the premises and staged a sit-in near the boundary of the statue.Only after the senior police officials insisted the BJP leaders to vacate the place else strict action will be taken, the agitating saffron party leaders left the site.On December 20, BJP district committee had announced to hold a fast at the shaheed sthal on December 25, which is the 77th birth anniversary of Nirmal Mahato.The protest was announced in protest against the “failures” of the JMM-led state government. "It was at shaheed sthal on August 8, 2019, that Hemant Soren had announced to give 5 lakh jobs to the youths in one year if his party comes to the power, but he has failed miserably," BJP Jamshedpur Mahanagar president Gunjan Yadav said.Notably, CM Hemant Soren was scheduled to come to the shaheed sthal to pay homage to Mahato today.Apprehending law and order problem, the district administration did not give permission to the BJP to hold the sit-in programme.Earlier, BJP leaders and workers assembled at Rankini temple, a distance of about 1.5 km from the sthal.The partymen paid homage to former Prime Minister, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, at the temple ground and then marched to Uliyan. There's no report of injury to either the police or the party workers in the scuffle. "We are examining the sequence of the events. We will discuss the matter with the senior officials and then take action accordingly," said Kadma police station in-charge, Ashok Ram.
