JAMSHEDPUR: A 24-year-old engineer ended his life by jumping into the Subarnarekha river on Thursday and his body was fished out on Friday. Another body was also fished out from the Kharkhai river on Friday.
In the first incident, Shubham Bhagat, a resident of New Colony, Musaboni, was working as an engineer with the Makino India Pvt Ltd in Jamshedpur and went to Sadpura in Ghatshila to visit his grandparents on Wednesday.
In the early hours of Thursday, he went out of his grandparents' house for a morning walk. He went to the Amaipura bridge over the Subarnarekha under the Ghatshila police station and jumped into the river, Ghatshila police station in-charge Bimal Kundu said.
On seeing the youth jumping into the river, local fishermen at the site alerted the Ghatshila police, who along with the help of an NDRF team, searched for him throughout the day but in vain. On Friday morning, his body was found lying near Badaghat on the banks of Subernarekha, Kundu said.
In another incident, the body of Hemant Sharma (40)was fished out from the Kharkhai river in Jugsalai on Friday. Sharma, a resident of Jugsalai, has been missing since August 23. Sharma, a sales executive, was experiencing problems in paying a loan amount to a bank.
