JAMMU: Jammu Police on Monday refuted the reports about recovery of an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) in Sidhra area here in the city outskirts.

In a brief message Police spokesperson today said, "The rumours spreading about an IED being detected on Sidhra Highway in Jammu are fake and baseless."

Though this time it is a 'rumour' but police have recovered IEDs along this ever busy stretch of bypass on Jammu Srinagar National Highway.

On Nov 04, 2023, a tiffin box timer-based 2 kgs Improvised Explosive Device (IED) was found planted on Sidhra bypass on Jammu-Srinagar national highway in Jammu city during late evening forcing authorities to stop traffic till bomb disposal squad defused it.

Prior to this an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) was recovered and defused by security forces along the national highway in the Sidhra area of Jammu April, 28, 2022.
