Jammu and Kashmir: Another drug peddler detained under PSA in Reasi

JAMMU: Another habitual drug peddler was detained under the Public Safety Act (PSA) in Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir, a senior police officer said on Saturday.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Reasi Amit Gupta said: "This is the sixth drug peddlers Including a lady who has been booked under PSA in the last 3 months and fourth in a week,

"Tabrez Hussain @ Tabrez son of Mohd Iqbal a resident of W-07 Reasi twon on district Reasi was found involved in drug peddling case FIR Nos 172/2021 U/S 8/20/21/22 NDPS Act and 191/2021 U/S 8/21/22/29 NDPS Act of Police Station Reasi", he said.

SSP Reasi Gupta said, "His name also surfaced during investigations in many other cases of drug peddling, he was considered as a kingpin of supply chain of drugs in Reasi Town."

SSP said," Police prepared dossiers for Tabrez Hussain's detention under the PSA and considering a fit case to be booked under PSA, Divisional Commissioner Jammu issued necessary detention orders."

"After getting the necessary orders, he was detained and subsequently lodged in Central Kot Bhalwal Jail Jammu," SSP added.

SSP Reasi said that police are acting tough against drug peddlers and have started an Anti Drug Helpline Number 7889876725 for the people. He also added 122 cases have been registered against 144 drug peddlers in the last six months in Reasi.
