Huge cache of arms, ammo recovered from terror hideout in Ramban

JAMMU: Security forces on Friday evening busted a hideout of terrorists in Ramban district of J&K and recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition, including sniper cartridges, AK ammunition, grenades, etc.

A police spokesperson said here on Saturday: “Acting on reliable information about the presence of a cache of arms, ammunition and other warlike stores in general forest area of Sarniyal-Khari of district Ramban, a joint team of Army and Ramban police launched a search operation. During the operation, a terrorist hideout was busted and a huge cache of arms and ammunition recovered.”

He added: “The recovery included 113 7.62mm cartridges, seven sniper cartridges, three AK47 magazines, five PIKA rounds, one PIKA belt, three Chinese and one Pakistani grenades, two UBGLs (under barrel grenade launchers), 300 grams of explosives, one FM transistor, two .9mm cartridges and as many fuses and detonators.”

The spokesperson said that a case under relevant sections of Arms Act and Explosive Substance Act has been registered at Banihal police station and investigation set in motion.
