BSF DG visits forward areas along IB in J&K

Jammu: BSF Director General Daljit Singh Chawdhary on Thursday visited forward areas along the International Border in Jammu frontier to review the situation and operational preparedness of the troop, officials said.He also interacted with troops on the ground and was briefed about security measures by top officials.This is the first visit of the DG to the Jammu frontier after taking over as head of the force recently.DIG, Jammu-Kathua range, Shiv Kumar Sharma met Chawdhary at Pansar border post and discussed the security measures and cooperation between troops and police in the region.His visit to the border belt comes ahead of the three-phased elections in Jammu and Kashmir beginning September 18.The three-tier security grid along the International Border and Line of Control is being strengthened with more deployment of BSF troops and nearly 1,000 recently trained border police personnel backed by the Village Defence Groups (VDGs), officials said.PTI

19 special counter-terror units to come up in Jammu to strengthen security grid

Jammu and Kashmir Police have ordered immediate transfers and postings of 19 DySPs to establish new units and subdivisions in various Jammu districts. The move aims to strengthen anti-terror operations and police station activities, especially in areas with increased terror incidents like Kathua, Udhampur, and Rajouri. Special operation groups will also be supervised under this order.

BSF recovers heroin near Indo-Pak border in Ferozepur

In Ferozepur, BSF troops recovered 500 grams of heroin, believed to have been drone-dropped, from a farming field near Machhiwara village. Acting on intelligence, BSF conducted a search operation which led to discovering the narcotics wrapped in adhesive tapes with an improvised hook, indicating an aerial delivery attempt.

Congress change itinerary for J&K visit; will head to Srinagar first, then Jammu

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi are set to visit Jammu and Kashmir for two days, focusing first on Srinagar before heading to Jammu. They aim to meet with party members and workers from 20 districts to gather grassroots feedback in preparation for the assembly elections. The leaders will then return to Delhi.
