RVUNL achieves record thermal power generation of 7,171MW
Jaipur: Rajasthan Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Ltd (RVUNL) has recorded its highest-ever thermal power generation, producing 7,171MW from its coal-based power plants on June 2, marking a new milestone.
The record output was achieved from 23 thermal generating units with a combined installed capacity of 7,580MW. The achievement surpasses the previous peak generation of 6,833MW recorded on Jan 31, 2025.
According to officials, the improved performance reflects sustained efforts to address technical deficiencies in generating units and undertake systematic maintenance and operational upgrades.
Energy minister Heeralal Nagar described the achievement as the best performance since the formation of RVUNL and congratulated the corporation’s management, engineers, and employees. He noted that the latest generation level represents a plant utilisation factor of 94.6% of the total installed coal-based capacity, the highest achieved so far.
By comparison, the previous record in January 2025 was achieved from 22 units with a combined capacity of 7,330 MW, translating into a utilisation rate of 93.22%.
RVUNL chairman and managing director Devendra Shringi attributed the accomplishment to the dedication and continuous efforts of engineers and plant personnel. He said the record performance demonstrated the effectiveness of coordinated operations and regular upkeep across the corporation’s generating stations.
