Mame Khan
became the first folk artist from India to walk the Cannes red carpet on Tuesday night. He was part of the India contingent led by information & broadcasting minister
Anurag Thakur.
Mame Khan, a manganiyar folk artist and Padma Shree awardee, is a resident of Sato village in Jaisalmer district.
He was invited for the inaugural function of the 75th Cannes Film Festival in France.

Governor Kalraj Mishra also congratulated Khan. Khan was seen in traditional attire, wearing a vibrant pink colour pathani suit, embroidered traditional jacket and turban, as he walked the red carpet with Bollywood stars.
Coming from a small village in Jaisalmer, it was voice that made him popular across the world.
In 2017, he received the Global Indian Music Award. Recently, at a programme in Jaipur, he was felicitated by Odisha governor Ganeshi Lal on the occasion of receiving the Shakhsiyat Award.
