HC grants bail to gangster Anandpal Singh’s brother
Jodhpur: The Rajasthan High Court on Friday granted bail to Gangster Anandpal Singh's brother, Rupendra Pal Singh alias Vicky, in a case related to firing at a police officer. The HC asked him to furnish a personal bond of Rs 50,000 and two sureties of Rs 25,000 each.Rupendra has been granted bail in a case registered at Jaswantgarh police station in Didwana district in 2016 wherein it had been alleged that Anandpal Singh and his associates had fired at Jaswantgarh SHO Ladu Singh in Sanwrad village, injuring him. Rupendra was also named as an accused in the case.Since all the other co-accused have already been granted bail, Justice Kuldeep Mathur did not find Rupendra's plea distinguishable from those co-accused. The court also took into account the long time to be taken in trial of the case as the petitioner was in jail since June 2018.He was charged under multiple sections, including attempted murder, the Arms Act, and damage to govt property. He had been imprisoned for the past seven years. Several bail pleas had been filed in the Didwana court with a prayer of bail, but they were repeatedly rejected. Subsequently, he moved the high court for bail. He is also facing over a dozen cases across various police stations in districts such as Didwana, Ladnun, Jaswantgarh and Sardarshahar. These cases involve charges under various sections, including attempted murder, assault, kidnapping, and violations of the Arms Act.Singh had been absconding prior to 2016 but was captured that year and has since been held in a high-security prison. Even after Anandpal's encounter, he was not granted permission to attend funeral.
