Dr Dhankar conducted the controversial surgery on May 15 at a private hospital in Jhunjhunu. He allegedly removed the healthy kidney of Eid Banu, a 30-year-old woman patient, by mistake instead of the diseased one.

The decision was taken at the general body meeting of RMC, held under the chairmanship of Dr Ravi Prakash Mathur, director (public health). Twenty-two nominated members from medical colleges too participated in the meeting. Dr Rajesh Sharma, registrar, RMC, stated that 25 cases in all came before the RMC's panel and ethics committee.
