Kamal Nath won’t have role in resolving Cong row: Randhawa
Jaipur: The Congress in-charge for Rajasthan, Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, on Monday denied reports about former Madhya Pradesh chief minister Kamal Nath being roped in to resolve the dispute in the party following Sachin Pilot’s recent protest. On a question about Nath’s possible intervention, Randhawa said in Jaipur, “If I am in-charge (of Rajasthan), I will solve the matter. I have no information about Kamal Nath. If you (media) have any letter (about Nath being assigned the task), then show it.”After Pilot, a former deputy chief minister, sat on a daylong fast on April 10, there were media reports that the Congress leadership had roped in Kamal Nath to iron out the differences in the party’s Rajasthan unit. Randhawa had taken a tough stand on Pilot’s fast a day after the event, his tone later changed after he held meetings with the party’s central leaders.Randhawa had issued a written statement on the night of April 10, terming Sachin Pilot’s fast as an anti-party activity. After that statement, there were speculations that Pilot would be issued a notice, but the party put the matter in abeyance for the time being reportedly after Rahul Gandhi’s intervention and in view of the Karnataka elections.Sources said the Congress high command is not going to take any steps on the Pilot issue immediately. The party has decided to delay any decision on it to cool the tempers and not let a potential backlash hit Congress in Rajasthan and other states as Pilot enjoys good support among the youth, they added.Randhawa had also indicated three days ago that an immediate decision on the Pilot case was unlikely and that no decision had been taken yet. He had said that a report on the matter had also not been sent to the high command and that he would move forward only after consulting senior leaders.Randhawa took feedback from Congress MLAs of the state in one-to-one meetings on Monday. CM Ashok Gehlot and state Congress president Govind Singh Dotasra were also present in these consultations. Pilot could not come as he was away in Shahpura and Khetri as per pre-scheduled programmes.
