Jully slams state govt for alleged broken promises, misleading public
Jaipur: Leader of Opposition Tikaram Jully Thursday targeted the Bhajan Lal Sharma-led state govt in the Assembly, alleging it was misleading the public with "manipulated figures" and publicity-driven claims while failing to deliver work on the ground.Speaking during the discussion on the motion of thanks to the Governor's address, Jully questioned the state govt's claims on fulfilling its manifesto promises. He claimed BJP's manifesto had 122 pledges across nine sections and alleged the govt was presenting "selective and false data" by claiming 72% completion without accounting for the remaining 28%.
Calling the administration a "reel govt," Jully alleged governance had been reduced to social media output. Referring to a recent video of the chief minister walking out of the secretariat, he claimed the govt spent Rs 8 crore on a package for a social media company to produce such content, and said the videos drew fewer views than the number of MLAs in the Assembly. Jully also questioned the timing of cabinet meetings, alleging they were not held for four months and were convened immediately after visits by two major industrialists. "I can name them in the House, if you want," he said. Jully also touched upon the turmoil within the state bureaucracy, mentioning recent transfers of key officials like the chief secretary and the CM's principal secretary, raising speculation about potential leadership changes within the state govt. "We want this CM to complete the full 5-year term," he said. On public grievance hearings, Jully said the chief minister should disclose how many such hearings were actually conducted during the year. He further alleged there was no tangible progress on issues such as MLAs' salaries, RGHS, scholarships, housing schemes and projects including the Sahakar Marg flyover, claiming that for the first time in 75 years a state govt had not issued even a single concrete order for development works. On law and order, Jully held the govt responsible for what he described as a deteriorating security situation, citing a Sawai Madhopur case in which a woman was murdered and her feet severed to remove silver anklets. He also raised issues of alleged tribal land grabbing, administrative arbitrariness and controversies involving ministers. On the felling of khejri trees, Jully invoked the 18th-century sacrifice of 363 people in Rajasthan to protect trees, alleging the govt was now determined to cut the state tree. He said saints were protesting in Bikaner but no minister had gone to engage with them.
