JAIPUR: With 136 dengue cases reported in the state in nine days, the health department launched a campaign against the disease ‘dengue free Rajasthan’ across the state from Saturday.
It will be a one-month-long campaign aiming to prevent spread of the disease.
From August 20 to August 29, the state has reported 136 dengue cases. With state witnessing rains, the health department is alert on the disease.
During monsoon, there is higher risk of spread of the disease.
By launching the campaign, the health department will take measures to prevent mosquito breeding by destroying mosquito breeding sites.
Additional director (rural health) Dr Ravi Mathur said, “Under the campaign, the officials have been directed to conduct fever survey, source reduction (mosquito breeding), blood slide collection, anti-larvae activities.”
The health department will constitute teams of two health workers which will conduct survey of 50 houses each. The survey will be conducted by auxiliary nurse midwives and Accredited Social health activist

For the purpose of preventing spread of vector-borne diseases in the state, directions have been issued to take help of other government agencies including municipal bodies.
In areas, where mosquito breeding is rampant, the health department with the help of civic bodies will conduct fogging following guidelines issued by the Centre on fogging.
The survey will be concluded on September 30.
Jaipur has reported 34 cases of dengue in nine days (from August 20 to August 29). The cases of vector-borne diseases have started pouring in at city’s different hospitals. The sporadic cases of malaria are also being reported.
A review meeting on seasonal diseases was conducted recently, in which, the officials discussed implementation of provisions of guidelines issued by the Centre on preventing spread of vector-borne diseases. However, it was also discussed that the cases of vector-borne diseases are constantly reducing in numbers.

Focus will also be on swine flu and scrub typhus.
