Existing ODOP units to get margin money grants for expansion

Jaipur: The industries department has introduced two major amendments to the One District One Product (ODOP) Policy-2024 to strengthen local industries and promote technical modernisation of enterprises linked to district-specific products.

Under the revised policy, existing ODOP enterprises undertaking expansion projects will now also be eligible for margin money grants. Earlier, the benefit was limited only to new units. The Industry and Commerce Department has issued a notification implementing the changes.

Industry and Commerce Commissioner Neelabh Saxena said micro units expanding their operations will be eligible for grants of up to Rs 20 lakh, while small-scale units can avail assistance of up to Rs 15 lakh. An additional budget provision of Rs 15 crore has also been made for the scheme in the state Budget 2026-27.

The second key amendment allows ODOP enterprises to undertake technical upgradation through private institutions and avail grants of up to Rs 5 lakh. Previously, the subsidy was available only for technology upgrades carried out through govt institutions. Officials said the move would help units adopt modern machinery and improve product quality with lower energy consumption.

The department said efforts are being made to strengthen ODOP products and generate more employment opportunities at the local level. Assistance is also being provided to improve product quality in line with international standards. Recently, projects worth Rs 18.19 crore were approved in five districts for setting up common facility centres, testing laboratories and storage infrastructure.
