Even min admits to power outages: Jully
Jaipur: Leader of Opposition Tikaram Jully Sunday intensified his criticism of the govt over recurring power outages, accusing energy minister Heeralal Nagar of acknowledging the problem by citing repeated power tripping in his own colony.
Jully said he repeatedly raised the issue in the Assembly, but the minister earlier downplayed it, making the latest remarks politically significant as they undercut the govt’s previous stance and bolster opposition claims of widespread electricity disruptions.
“Now even the energy minister has admitted that the lights in his colony are tripping repeatedly. I raised this issue in the Assembly as well, but at that time the energy minister did not accept it,” Jully said.
Jully alleged that power tripping has become a widespread problem, particularly in rural areas, causing hardship for residents. He pointed to outages at key public institutions, claiming that electricity failed in the Assembly and that major hospitals, including SMS Hospital in Jaipur, have also experienced power cuts.
Jully said the minister’s acknowledgment of outages in his own neighbourhood should prompt the govt to recognise the gravity of the situation across the state. “You can see the problem of your colony, but people across Rajasthan are constantly troubled by power tripping, and the minister is paying no attention to it,” he said.
Calling on the govt to take corrective measures, Jully urged the Energy Department to address shortcomings in the power supply system and provide relief to consumers facing frequent disruptions.
