Don’t trust BJP on OPS: Employees’ federation

Jaipur: Reacting to a statement issued by leader of opposition Rajendra Rathore that if the BJP comes to power in Rajasthan, it would remove all anomalies in the old pension scheme (OPS), the New Pension Scheme Employees Federation of Rajasthan (NPSEFR) said on Monday that it does not believe in the words of Rathore as the employees do not trust his party, the BJP, on this issue.
“If Rathore saheb wants to assure us that OPS won’t be tampered with in Rajasthan, he should write to the PM, urging him to return the state's NPS fund amounting to Rs 41,000 crore and restore OPS for paramilitary forces. He should also request the prime minister to restore OPS in the whole country,” said Vinod Kumar, state coordinator for NPSEFR.
As many as 900 employees who retired after April 1, 2022, have started getting benefits of the old pension scheme in Rajasthan, an RTI response obtained from the state's pension and pensioners welfare department has said. The old pension scheme was restored in the state in April 2022.
The state’s finance department has also issued an order to implement the OPS for employees working in boards, corporations, autonomous, semi-autonomous bodies and universities (set up on or after January 1, 2004). It also includes all such bodies which were under NPS (new pension scheme), CPF and EPF, the order stated.
