"It is a reiteration of the old order. The secretaries have been directed to routinely visit 2-3 districts. They should visit the districts at least five days in a month," said an senior official at the Administrative Reforms Department (ARD).

The chief secretary's letter to the secretaries comes in the wake of Chief minister Ashok Gehlot suspending nine officials and charge-sheeting three others for showing negligence towards people’s problems and for not ensuring public service delivery. He took this decision during a video conferencing with the collectors of all the districts on December 5.

The CM had taken serious note of Banswara secretary in-charge Akhil Arora and Pali secretary in-charge Pritam B. Yashwant not visiting their districts concerned and directed the chief secretary (D B Gupta) to seek clarification from them.
