Constable dies after bike crashes into electric pole in Sanganer
Jaipur: A 42-year-old constable was killed and another man seriously injured when the motorcycle on which they were travelling went out of control and crashed into an electric pole while returning from duty in Jaipur’s Sanganer area early Wednesday morning.
The deceased constable was identified as Lokendra who was posted at the Jaipur Police Lines. The injured person has been identified as Rohit.
Police said that Lokendra completed night patrolling duty in the Subhash Chowk area and was returning home when the mishap occurred. “Preliminary investigation suggests that the motorcycle lost control and rammed into a divider and an electric pole near the roadside,” said an officer.
Police are checking whether overspeeding, fatigue after night duty, or loss of balance led to the crash. Further investigation in the matter is underway. “We are taking the CCTV footage of the nearby areas to ascertain if it was overspeeding, fatigue after night duty or any other cause of the accident,” the officer added.
The impact of the collision was severe, leaving both riders critically injured.
Local residents immediately informed the police and helped shift the injured men to SMS Hospital for treatment. Doctors declared Constable Lokendra dead during treatment, while Rohit alias Rahul Gupta remains admitted with serious injuries.
Police said Lokendra hailed from Bharatpur district and was serving with the Jaipur Police Lines. His sudden death has left colleagues and family members in shock.
Investigators are now examining the exact cause of the accident.
