Cong announces new, bigger state executive

Jaipur: The much-awaited list of office bearers of the Congress party was announced on Monday night. Lalit Tunwal and Sitaram Agarwal were appointed as the general secretary (organisation) and the party treasurer, respectively. Congress organization general secretary KC Venugopal issued the orders for the appointments.The Congress party has announced a jumbo state executive in election year, which includes the appointment of 21 vice presidents, 48 general secretaries, and 121 secretaries. It has also announced the appointment of 25 district presidents. The posts of district presidents were lying vacant since the time of the rebellion of the Sachin Pilot camp in 2020.More appointments to the executive are in the offing and their list is expected soon, according to party sources. There were only 39 office bearers in the present state executive. Former ministers Dr Jitendra Singh and Naseem Akhtar Insaaf along with MLAs Gajraj Khatana and Virendra Beniwal are included in the list of 21 vice presidents. Minister Pratap Singh Khachariaywas has been replaced by R R Tiwari as Jaipur city district president while Gopal Meena MLA has been appointed Jaipur Rural district president.The party’s high command had earlier stayed the appointment of 85 secretaries announced without its permission, which has now been increased to 121 to include more leaders. The list is dominated by the leaders from the chief minister Gehlot-Dotasra faction of the state Congress. Both the spokespersons, Swarnim Chaturvedi and RC Chaudhary, were promoted to general secretaries. tnn
