Colvin Shield (Day 2): Jaipur, Jhunjhunu, Jhalawar, Churu, Ajmer and Barmer win
Jaipur: Centuries continued to flow on the second day as well of the state-level senior Colvin Shield tournament, with five more hundreds being scored on Tuesday. In Elite Group A, Jaipur crushed Hanumangarh by 127 runs with Rohan Rajbhar smashing 144 off 147 balls.
Jhalawar chased down 232 against Sikar on the penultimate ball, powered by captain Salman Khan’s unbeaten 109 off 125 balls and aided by Tanveer’s impressive 4/69. Ajmer defeated Rajsamand by 4 wickets with Rajat Gujarati taking 3-46.
In Plate Group A in Jodhpur, Churu edged Alwar by 3 wickets, Barmer crushed Jodhpur by 95 runs, led by Saurabh Singh Rajpurohit’s century (104 off 100) and Bhoora Ram’s 5-wicket haul (5-43), and Jhunjhunu beat Tonk by 7 wickets with Aditya Shekhawat’s unbeaten 125 (131 balls) and Naveen Kumar’s 3-52, overshadowing Ayan Ali Khan’s blistering 101 off 54.
RCA mandates minimum 2 Colvin games for IPL & int’l players: The Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) ad hoc committee has mandated that all men and women players participate in state-level competitions to qualify for selection in the Rajasthan team for BCCI national tournaments. IPL and international players are specifically required to compete in at least two matches of the state-level Senior Colvin Shield, with exemptions allowed only for certified medical issues or official international duty.
“Participation of experienced senior and national level players in the competition will not only increase the level of the competition but will also provide an opportunity to the young players of the state to learn from them,” said the ad hoc panel convenor Mohit Jaswant Yadav on the sidelines of the closing ceremony of Udaipur District Cricket Association summer camp and annual talent search training camp.
