Birla files nomination from Kota-Bundi seat

Kota: Lok Sabha Speaker and BJP candidate Om Birla on Wednesday filed nomination for Lok Sabha polls from Kota-Bundi constituency.

Deputy chief minister Prem Chand Bairwa, education minister Madan Dilawar, energy minister Heera Lal Nagar, party MLA Sandeep Sharma and Kalpna Devi were among those present with Birla on the occasion. Chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, state party chief CP Joshi, cabinet minister Kirori Lal Meena attended nomination rally in front of Maharo Ummed Singh Stadium where leaders and party candidate Birla addressed people.

Addressing the rally, the CM said, “If someone is mother of corruption in the country, it is the Congress. The newspapers before 2014 would carry headlines of corruption and terrorism. In times of Modi, Pulwama attack was retaliated with surgical strike by country’s army,” he said.

Om Birla is confident in winning Kota nomination, expecting BJP's victory in Rajasthan's 25 constituencies split into two polling phases. In 2019, BJP won 24 seats in Rajasthan, with one secured by RLP.

Lok Sabha candidates can start filing nominations from today

Nominations ongoing for Mysuru Lok Sabha seat with scrutiny on April 5 and withdrawal by April 8. Polling scheduled for April 26 and counting on June 4. Candidates face security deposits, and illegal items have been seized.
