AJMER: Bhilwara remained peaceful though tense on Monday after a
communal clash in Gayatri Nagar
of the city day before. Internet services were barred to stop spreading of rumours and police battalion from Ajmer range was deployed to handle any worse situation.
According to police, pebbles were pelted on a religious rally on Sunday which culminated in a clash between two communities that led to communal riots.
“Bhilwara is a major communal sensitive district in the state and therefore, we use our specialist team to control such situation,” said senior police officials.
The tension turned so ugly that arsons were reported at many places in the city. Looking to the tension, three
Rajasthan Armed Core battalions
were called from Ajmer range to take control of the situation.
“The whole day was peaceful and we deputed heavy police force in sensitive and extra sensitive areas of the city,” said a police official.
SP Mohan Sharma
also went to the areas to take stock of the situation. “Tension still prevails in some regions,” added a source.
Three incidents of burning vehicles in different localities have been reported last night. “We have detained about 80 people in this regard and also investigating the main conspirators of this incident,” said police.
