Bharat Taxi starts trial run in Jaipur
Jaipur: A new app-based transport service, Barat Taxi, began trial operations in Jaipur Thursday, offering bike taxi, auto-rickshaw and cab services in the city.
The launch brings Jaipur into the Bharat Taxi network, which has already expanded to cities including Delhi-NCR, Chandigarh and Lucknow. According to officials, nearly 13,000 drivers in Jaipur have registered with the platform ahead of its rollout.
The service will compete in a market currently dominated by private ride-hailing operators and is expected to focus on daily commuters as well as last-mile connectivity. Features announced for the platform include fixed fares, no surge pricing during peak hours and an SOS emergency facility for passengers.
Minister of Department of Cooperation Gautam Kumar Dak said the initiative is being developed under a cooperative model, with drivers playing a larger role in the platform’s operations. He said the service aims to provide an alternative transport option for commuters while also creating opportunities for drivers.
The trial phase will be used to assess demand and operational challenges before wider implementation. Officials said passenger feedback and driver participation during the initial rollout will help determine the pace of expansion in Jaipur.
The entry of another app-based mobility platform comes at a time when demand for affordable and accessible transport options continues to grow in the city, particularly for short-distance travel and first- and last-mile connectivity.
