10-year-old abducted, sexually assaulted in Dausa; accused absconding

Jaipur: A 10-year-old girl was allegedly abducted from her home and sexually assaulted on Monday night in a village in Rajasthan’s Dausa district, with police launching a manhunt for the accused who remains at large.

An FIR under relevant sections of the POCSO Act was registered at Sikandara police station, and the survivor was medically examined. Police said they are using the child’s statement to identify and trace the attacker.

According to police, the abduction happened while the girl was asleep in her room as a wedding procession was underway nearby. “It is alleged that while the family members were occupied with the wedding festivities next door, the accused entered the house, abducted the girl, who was sleeping in her room, and carried her off to the fields,” a Sikandara police officer said.

The child later returned home and told her family she was threatened at knifepoint and gagged with a piece of cloth during the assault.

Dausa SP Piyush Dixit said, “Her statements were recorded in the presence of her parents. Based on the information provided by her, our teams are raiding places to nab the accused.”
