Wife found strangled, husband dies by suicide in Indore
INDORE: A 32-year-old man allegedly killed his wife and later died by suicide after consuming poison in Indore’s Heera Nagar area on Sunday morning. The incident came to light after neighbours heard the couple’s young daughter crying continuously and alerted police.
According to Heera Nagar police station in-charge Sushil Patel, the incident was reported around 6.30 am from Meghdoot Nagar. Police reached the spot after receiving information from residents and had to break open the door of the house, where the couple was found dead.
Police identified the deceased as Halke Veer Patel and his wife Roshni. Preliminary investigation revealed that the couple had been facing marital discord over the woman’s alleged relationship with another man.
Investigators said the couple’s minor daughter was inside the house when the incident took place. Her cries in the morning raised suspicion among neighbours, who then informed police.
During investigation, police recovered a suicide note from the room.
Police said Halke Veer worked in a pesticide company in Pithampur and the family originally belonged to Hoshangabad district.
Although the suicide note suggested that both consumed poison, police found injury marks on Roshni’s neck during examination.
Investigators suspect she may have been strangled before the man consumed poison. Both mobile phones have been seized and further investigation is underway.
