Ujjain: Thieves broke into a warehouse in Ujjain’s Madhav Nagar area and stole cigarette stock worth around Rs 25 lakh, along with the digital video recorder (DVR) connected to the facility’s CCTV cameras, police said.
The theft was reported from a warehouse operated by a marketing agency in Dussehra Maidan area. According to police, unidentified miscreants broke multiple locks, entered the premises and stole 25-26 large cartons of cigarettes during the weekend.
The warehouse owner, Saurabh Maheshwari, discovered the theft when he arrived at the facility on Monday morning. He locked the premises on Saturday night and Sunday was a holiday.
Madhav Nagar police station in-charge Gajendra Pachori said, “A case of theft was registered against unidentified persons and efforts were underway to identify the suspects. Preliminary investigation suggests the accused may have used a four-wheeler to transport the stolen goods.“
