One killed, nine injured after autorickshaw overturns

Khargone: A 27-year-old man was killed and nine others, including four children and four women, were injured after an autorickshaw overturned following a collision with an unidentified vehicle in Khargone district.

The accident occurred late Sunday between Premnagar and Balwadi villages under Jaitapur police station limits. The 10 people, residents of Gogawan, were returning home in an autorickshaw after attending a condolence meet in Sanjay Nagar area of Khargone town. When they reached near Premnagar, an unidentified vehicle allegedly struck their autorickshaw, causing its driver to lose balance and the vehicle overturned on the road, according to police sources.

The injured were rushed to district hospital with the help of the autorickshaw driver and local residents. Among them was Sadiq, 27, who sustained critical injuries and died during treatment on Monday.

A 20-month-old boy, Abu, who was seriously injured in the crash, was referred to a hospital in Indore for advanced treatment.

Police have registered a case and launched a search for the unidentified vehicle involved in the crash. Officials said an investigation was underway to ascertain the exact circumstances leading to the accident.
