Indore: Taking out processions inside the church campus with the statue of Mother Mary the nine days festivities of Novena came to an end with the Feast of Nativity on Thursday.
Hundreds of Christian community devotees thronged at the city-based churches for special prayers with the much awaited feast of ‘Our Lady of Velankanni’. Christian community attended the feast with great fervour and took out processions.
At the St Francis of Assisi Cathedral (Red church) had the former Archbishop of Madhya Pradesh, Leo Cornelius, parish priest Father Thomas Mathew and other clergy to celebrate the High Mass.
"This is the most awaited feast of the Catholic community and for all the nine days community members attend the novena which is followed by the celebration of Mother Mary's birthday. After the Holy Mass, a procession of the statue of Mother Mary was taken out in the Red Church premises.The flag lowering ceremony was also held post the religious prayers. Prasad was distributed for all the community members in the end as community members greeted each other," Indore Catholic Sabha member, Rosemary Braganza said while talking to the TOI. TNN
