Four face FIR for illegal sale, storage of fortified rice

Indore: The food department filed an FIR at Gandhi Nagar police station against four people for the illegal sale of fortified rice, an official release said. The FIR was filed against Rajesh Verma, Sonu Rajput, Murtaza Khan and Hemraj Yadav, the release stated.Investigation in the case revealed Yadav's long-term involvement in illegal purchase, sale, and storage of rice, often changing locations to evade detection. The department uncovered illegal storage of wheat and rice at a warehouse in Jamburi Hapsi, Arihant Nagar. The warehouse, managed by Verma and Rajput, was found to be storing grains without proper documentation.During the inspection, officials intercepted a passenger auto carrying rice, which was seized and its driver Murtaza Khan was taken into custody. The investigation revealed that the warehouse contained 101 sacks of rice, suspected to be fortified rice from the Public Distribution System and 127 sacks of wheat, all of which lacked the necessary bills and documentation. Khan, during questioning, disclosed the involvement of Yadav in the warehouse operations. The seized grains were transferred to a govt warehouse in Rau for safekeeping.
