Indore: Indore City Congress on Sunday intensified its attack on Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargav, accusing the civic body of executing an unauthorized, politically motivated diversion of a water pipeline that has deprived several settlements of their fair share of water.
Addressing a press conference, Congress city president Chintu Chouksey said that an 8-inch interconnecting pipeline was laid without detailed project report approval to redirect water from Triveni overhead tank.
Chouksey said that this water, meant for Lala Ka Bagicha slum across Wards 45 and 46, was systematically diverted to areas represented by BJP corporator Lal Bahadur Verma. Demanding Mayor’s resignation, Congress announced a major sit-in protest at Rajwada on May 26.
Bhargav dismissed allegations, accusing Congress of spreading misinformation to create public confusion during a severe summer crisis. He said that Indore Municipal Corporation maintained clear records and distributed resources impartially to every neighbourhood.
