Indore: The centralized online counselling process conducted by department of higher education concluded on Thursday leaving several seats vacant in colleges across Indore. Over 13,000 seats have remained unoccupied across 146 colleges in 11 undergraduate courses, including BCom, BA and BSc while around 3,000 seats are vacant in postgraduate programmes.
Among UG courses, BSc programme witnessed the highest number of vacant seats, followed by BCom and BA courses.
“As per the centralized online counselling, students were notified through SMS about the seat allotment and payment of fee. Many students missed out on this update due to which they failed to secure their seat,” Government Holkar Science College administrator Prof RC Dixit said.
The four-month-long admission process, which started on May 25, is unlikely to have additional admission rounds. The seats for BBA courses were fully occupied, whereas in BEd courses, around 110 seats are left vacant. TNN
