College admission concludes, 13k seats vacant

Indore: The centralized online counselling process conducted by department of higher education concluded on Thursday leaving several seats vacant in colleges across Indore. Over 13,000 seats have remained unoccupied across 146 colleges in 11 undergraduate courses, including BCom, BA and BSc while around 3,000 seats are vacant in postgraduate programmes.Among UG courses, BSc programme witnessed the highest number of vacant seats, followed by BCom and BA courses.“As per the centralized online counselling, students were notified through SMS about the seat allotment and payment of fee. Many students missed out on this update due to which they failed to secure their seat,” Government Holkar Science College administrator Prof RC Dixit said.The four-month-long admission process, which started on May 25, is unlikely to have additional admission rounds. The seats for BBA courses were fully occupied, whereas in BEd courses, around 110 seats are left vacant. TNN

All seats at Sri Madhusudan Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (SMSIMSR) in Bengaluru have been filled. The college offers free MBBS education to 80% of its students. The seats under government and private quota come without tuition or hostel fees, but students are required to serve five years of compulsory service in the institution's free hospitals. If they fail to comply, they have to pay double the NRI quota fee as a penalty. The college will seek permission to hold one more round of counseling for the remaining vacant seats.

The Uttar Pradesh Joint Entrance Examination Council will announce the seat allotment result for UPJEE Pharmacy Counselling 2023 on September 28. Candidates can check their status on the official website and confirm their seat and make the fee payment by October 1. Document verification will be conducted until October 1, and the balance admission fee can be paid until October 15. The first three phases of counselling are for candidates who passed the Uttar Pradesh Joint Entrance Examination, while candidates from other states can participate in the fourth phase.

KEA to re-allot medical seats to Mangaluru students

The Karnataka Examinations Authority will conduct counselling for 150 MBBS students whose admissions to GR Medical College were declared illegal. The students will be re-allotted seats in other colleges. The High Court has directed the Directorate of Medical Education to complete the redistribution of seats and provide an affidavit with the details. Students have been asked to bring necessary documents for the seat re-allotment process. The students have also requested transfer to government medical colleges and registration numbers for upcoming examinations.
