Manipur assembly polls, were injured in a bomb explosion in Kakching district on Sunday night. The blast took place a day before the visit of AICC general secretary
Rahul Gandhi and two days ahead of the scheduled tour of Prime Minister
Narendra Modi to the state to address poll rallies in
Imphal.
According to police sources, the bomb went off around 8 pm near a pharmacy at the
Wangoo
tera area along Sugnu road, about 45 km from Imphal. Injured constables Girija Shankar and Gaurav Rai and other personnel were on routine patrol duty when the bomb, believed to have been hurled by rebels, exploded. The two were rushed to Jivan Hospital at Kakching district headquarters, they added. tnn
