Manipur assembly goes paperless as Biren launches NeVA

Imphal: A day ahead of the commencement of the 5th session of the assembly, chief minister N Biren Singh on Wednesday launched the National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA) in the House here, transforming the latter into a digital and paperless house. Speaking on the occasion, Biren said it is a historic moment under the dynamic and visionary leader of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The central govt has identified 44 mission mode projects and that NeVA is one of them to facilitate a paperless assembly, he said, adding, one main objective of NeVA is to help the assembly become more transparent, accessible, accountable and effective in promoting democracy. “Now, e-Assembly service is a prerequisite for e-democracy, a stage where information and communication technology forms an integral part of democratic expression, and it will be a big platform for the country’s oneness by linking all legislatures of the country together under one platform,” the chief minister added.Biren acknowledged and appreciated the PM, speaker Thokchom Satyabrata Singh, his team and technical teams for the timely implementation of NeVA, which is based on the PM’s concept of “One Nation, One Application.”Satyabrata said, “Today, we are living in a digital world and NeVA aims at connecting legislatures of Parliament and all legislative assemblies digitally.” He also spoke at length on the benefits of the House becoming paperless.
