Wayanad landslides: Scared of rain, Shakkira made her family escape
A heavy downpour prompted Shakkira to move her family from Mundakkai to Meppadi, saving their lives. Shortly after, a landslide struck Mundakkai, causing extensive damage. Mohammed Alis, who followed his wifes insistence, witnessed neighbors and close relatives being swept away. His home is now uninhabitable, filled with debris and muddy water.
3 days after Kerala landslide, 4-member family found safe in house; toll hits 344
In Kerala's Wayanad, rescuers found a family of four safe three days after a landslide, though the death toll rose to 344. Rescuers used advanced radar and drones, but the search for more survivors was halted. The rescued family was evacuated safely. Over 1,374 personnel and ground-penetrating radars are continuing the rescue operations.
