Landslide kills minor girl in Manipur’s Jiribam

Imphal: A 10-year-old girl was killed and four other members of her family were injured, with one of them being critical, after a heavy landslide buried parts of their house in Manipur’s Jiribam district, along the Assam-Mizoram border, in the early hours of Tuesday.The incident occurred at around 3.30 am at Ahmedabad Part 1, under Sonapur gram panchayat, killing Nurmola Begum, Jiribam police sources said. The injured have been identified as Sushmita Begum (8), Rani Begum (34), Md Salim uddin (16) Gusara Begum (18), sources said, adding that two other members of the family escaped unhurt.

In Kerala's Wayanad, rescuers found a family of four safe three days after a landslide, though the death toll rose to 344. Rescuers used advanced radar and drones, but the search for more survivors was halted. The rescued family was evacuated safely. Over 1,374 personnel and ground-penetrating radars are continuing the rescue operations.
