Kuki body unhappy with Manipur MP's Parl speech

IMPHAL: Dismayed over the maiden speech of newly elected Outer Manipur MP Lorho Pfoze in the Parliament, where he allegedly spoke about the demands of a single community, the Kuki Inpi Manipur has come down heavily on him for his comments.


The Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM), the apex body of the entire Kuki community, discussed at length the MP's maiden speech and concluded that the speech reflected his predisposition, abysmal narrow-mindedness and parochialism.

"His speech indicates his involvement in the secessionist movement of the NSCN-IM because if the MP sincerely wants to let peace prevail in the region and Manipur in particular, he should have mentioned the needs for talks with all the undergrounds operating the region and the state including Meetei, Kuki, etc.," asserted Thongkam Haokip, secretary, information and publicity, KIM.

He continued that singly giving pressure for immediate solution for the NSCN-IM only indicates that he is a communal politician while the people of Manipur wants a politician who would work for the welfare of the people he represented instead of speaking in support of a secessionist group NSCN-IM.

"Dr. Lorho Pfoze should bear in mind that the problems in the hills of Manipur is due to the

naked aggression

of the Nagas of Manipur on the Kukis with the intention of dispossessing the Kukis of their land by force and fraud and that any settlement in solution with the Nagas alone can never solve the political problems of the state," he added.

KIM also cautioned that the newly elected Outer Manipur MP, while addressing the need for early solution to the problems of the Kaccha Naga-dominated NSCN-IM's political issues, should not undermine the political rights of others communities of Manipur.
