Displaced man shot at near relief camp in Bishnupur district

Imphal: A 28-year-old person displaced by the ongoing ethnic conflict was shot at by two unidentified miscreants near his relief camp at the Thanga area in Bishnupur district on Wednesday morning, police said. Sawaijam Dhanabir, who received four bullets in the attack, is undergoing treatment in a private hospital in Imphal city. He is said to be critical, reports K Sarojkumar Sharma. Moirang police station, under whose jurisdiction the area comes, has registered a case to nab the perpetrators. On the other hand, a joint team of state police commandos of different stations on Wednesday morning seized a cache of arms and ammunition during search operations at Wangoo Elangba hill areas in Kakching district, official sources said.
