IMPHAL: Four children, who resided in a relief camp with their families, drowned in a river in Churachandpur district of Manipur, police said.

The children, three girls and a boy aged between 4 and 9, were residing in the ECA Canan relief camp in Tuibuong due to the ethnic conflict in the state.

On Tuesday afternoon, the children went to bathe in the Tuitha river near the camp, but failed to return.

Concerned families and camp residents initiated a search, with the police also joining the effort.

After an overnight search, the children's lifeless bodies were discovered in the river on Wednesday morning, confirming the tragic incident.
