Who let Jaganmohan Reddy fly after knife attack: HC asks Centre
HYDERABAD: The Hyderabad high court on Friday asked Airports Authority of India (AAI) and CISF to explain why they allowed YSR Congress president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy to leave
The bench of Chief Justice T B Radhakrishnan and Justice S V Bhatt sought replies from the Centre by Tuesday. The bench was hearing pleas seeking CBI probe or any other independent probe into the attack. One of the pleas was filed by Jagan who expressed lack of faith in AP police and sought an enquiry by any other agency that is not in the control of AP State or its DGP.
Assistant solicitor general K Lakshman said the incident took place at 12.40 pm and Jagan left for Hyderabad at 1.10 pm.
While C V Mohan Reddy, senior counsel for Jagan, charged AP DGP R P Thakur and chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu with making baseless claims that it was a publicity stunt by Jagan himself and the attacker was an admirer of Jagan, etc.
AP’s advocate general Dammalapati Srinivas charged the YSRCP chief with non-cooperation with the AP police. The AG said the FIR was registered by an assistant commandant of CISF and the state had formed a special investigation team (SIT).
Jagan’s counsel told the court that statements by AP CM and DGP were meant to indicate the direction in which probe should proceed. The bench gave AP counsel time till Tuesday to submit SIT’s status report. The bench, however, left it open to Jagan to give a statement to AP police. It also wondered whether it could entertain a plea from a person who did not give his version to the jurisdictional police.
